What Would Life Be Like Without Feminism?

January 12, 2007

What do you think America would be like today if we never had feminism? And interesting question proposed by Cassius a Valedictorian Member of the Don’t Get Married Forum. Our brother nemo came back with quite an eloquent reply: “Interesting question. It reminds me of historical science fiction novels where the CSA survived the Civil War or Germany won WWII, except in this case the good guys lost in the real world. Let’s be more specific. Assume American women never got the right to vote. What effect would this have had on American and world politics? 1) No prohibition and no repeal. Women’s Temperance League members never get the vote. No gangster era in Chicago. Al Capone dies in a gangland shootout, and gets only a perfunctory notice in the obituary column. The Kennedys never make a fortune from bootlegging. 2) The era of profligate consumer credit that helped create the Great Depression is moderated because men have less pressure to kowtow to their wives’... (more...)

Are Stay At Home Mothers Killing American Men?

January 4, 2007

Are American women killing their husbands under the guise of being the stay at home mom? Marty Nemko’s site raises some interesting points. Here are some of the mined nuggets we discovered at Marty’s place. Many men live bleak lives: work 10+ hours, commute home, and drop into the couch exhausted. And their reward: an early grave. Despite obesity being more prevalent among women, there are five widows for every widower. Yet all we hear about is another fundraiser for breast cancer. A recent New York Times article reported that the number of stay-at-home moms has increased 13 percent in less than a decade, and among working women, 2/3 work part-time. This is true even of graduates of prestigious colleges, women who were bestowed a fiercely competed-for slot at an elite college on the assumption they would use that coveted degree to make a big difference in the world. Adding to the unfairness, women, on average, are more motivated than their husbands to have children to... (more...)

The Beautiful Bride Barbie Doll

December 21, 2006

It’s Christmas time and I found myself shopping at the local Toys R us for my 3 1/2 year old little girl. To my despair, I was subjected to 3 aisles of pure crap. My pupils were being burned by the likes of dolls named “Bratz” and disturbing makeup kits that were “3 year old friendly”. As I stared at the mind numbing selection of various “Diva Packs” (make believe cell phones, lip glosses etc), I couldn’t help but think of Jon Benet Ramsey. The old doormat in me wanted to cry. I feared the make-believe life my daughter would live as a result of having grown up with these parasitic fem-toys. One toy that has sadly become an American institution is the Barbie. Right up there with those sick and twisted Disney films that numb a little girl into la-la land. As Khankrumthebulgar puts it, “Reality cannot live up to cartoons. Women are trained to find a man with motivation from the beginning, starting with Disney classics like Cinderella... (more...)

Feminism’s Affect On Women

December 17, 2006

I’m inclined to believe that women just don’t understand us men. Women just can’t seem to understand that the only time smart men are willing to sign on the dotted line is when they’re young and horny, when they have no real assets to lose and before they really understand the principles of wealth creation (ie. early 20s). By the time smart men have a degree or two, a 401k and IRA, a house and a 6 figure income (or at least when they’re closing in on it) they’re not so keen to just give it away for yet another woman. Then when the smart men hit their 30’s and their sex drive drops (from being “yeah i’ll sign anything to get a bit” to “wait a minute, this means you get everything”); all of a sudden, life is under the control of the “big head” and women don’t seem perpelxed by us. Many women can’t seem to understand why we don’t act like horny teenagers anymore and these women refuse to accept... (more...)
